March 28th Chapter Meeting:
With the energy codes becoming more and more stringent, increasing attention to detail and design and in depth knowledge of systems and components is required to design a building envelope that can meet the strict performance requirements. However, not every project and/or project budget can warrant the application of sophisticated modeling software such as WUFI or THERM. Specific to climate zone 2, the discussion at this month’s chapter meeting will focus on the whole building envelope as a system exploring the criteria for selecting the appropriate components such as insulation, weather barriers and the appropriate use of vapor permeable/impermeable membranes.
