CSI Houston Chapter January 2019 President’s Message
I’m writing this message on Christmas Day. It is also near the end of the calendar year and a time when many look back on the previous 12 months. 2017 was quite a year – one that will stand out for me because of Hurricane Harvey, the Astros winning the World Series, and some personal events in my life. That said 2018 has also been significant for me and, I believe, for the Houston Chapter. We are seeing some changes in the way we interact with each other and the A/E/C community at-large. I believe these changes are positive.
The most recent event was our our holiday party held in conjunction with the Texas chapter of the Construction Owners Association of America (COAA), the Houston Chapter of the Institute for Leadership in Capital Projects, and the Houston chapter of the AIA at Chapman and Kirby just east of the George R. Brown Convention Center. It was great to get acquainted with some new folks and renew some relationships with those we haven’t seen in a while. The response to the request for items to donate to the SPCA was outstanding.
Be sure to keep the evening of January 28, 2019 open on your calendars. The chapter will once again host Mr. Pat Kiley as he presents his Construction Market Forecast for the coming year. The January meeting will be held at Maggiano’s Little Italy on Post Oak Blvd.
Ken Black is also lining up an interesting presentation for our February meeting which is scheduled for Wednesday the 27 of that month at the United Way on Waugh Drive.
As my term reaches the mid-point I remain grateful for the board and other chapter members who work to make the chapter’s mission a success. I am also appreciative of the sponsors who do so much to support our efforts.
