Our Houston CSI Chapter has initiated some very positive changes. Most noticeable, our venue and event formats will be different. If not for Harvey, our August meeting would have been at Spaghetti Warehouse. The idea is to experiment and find out what works. Obviously, things have changed over the decades that we been meeting at the Hess Club. Houston’s traffic patterns and residential preferences have involved. And, there are now many sources for CEU programs. The time is right to tryout various venues and meeting formats. There will be fewer dinner meetings at HESS. Of course we would not start a new year without Mr. Pat Kiley on January 22 at HESS. We hope to introduce other stimulating events and find convenient locations and times for monthly meetings.
Our chapter has always had energetic volunteers. Officers and committee members work hard to provide the services that CSI is known for. But volunteers, with demanding jobs, can only do so much. In July the board of directors voted to employ a professional in an effort to update our member services, public services and community outreach. AMPartner provides the staff, technology and expertise to shore up professional associations like ours. Today’s volunteer associations benefit greatly when there are experts to help with management issues and introduce programs that have been successful in other associations; like our new email announcement.
We are excited about the future of Houston CSI. These are challenging times for professional associations at all levels. CSI provides synergy and this industry thrives on mutually advantageous collaboration of diverse business participants. And that is what we do.
